Consultancy
My approach is grounded in understanding motivations, offering insight from research and bringing in new perspectives and ideas. What this looks like in practice depends on what your organisation needs.
I bring years of in-depth sector experience to understand the situation quickly. Here's what some of this work has looked like:
Research and advisory
An organisation asked me to review a draft report on ethnic pay gaps. The draft was well-researched, but it hadn't accounted for bonus compensation, which is where some of the most significant pay disparities sit, particularly within the private sector. This additional insight into pay gaps made it into the final published version.
I find this kind of work useful precisely because it draws on things I know from experience rather than from a brief.
Strategy and facilitation
I designed and facilitated a series of strategy workshops for a trust, bringing staff and trustees into the same conversation. The feedback from trustees in particular was that it was the most useful strategic work they'd done together. The sessions also surfaced significant shifts in how the organisation was thinking about its fundraising.
Wellbeing and carer support
I studied workplace wellbeing as part of my MSc in Organisational Psychology, and the evidence is consistent: wellbeing is shaped far more by the conditions of someone's work than by any additional support offered to them as an individual. The largest UK study to date found the usual tools - training, mindfulness, apps - made almost no measurable difference. You can't process your way out of an unmanageable workload.
I also understand this from the other side. Balancing work with significant caring responsibilities of my own, I know that time and space to cope mean very little without genuine respite from the work itself. I can help you explore what may affect wellbeing in your organisation - especially where you have employees with caring responsibilities - to find practical ways to improve, including ones that don't cost money.
Professional development and in-house training
I've worked with apprentices, solo fundraisers and people who are several decades into their careers: helping individuals get clearer on what they're trying to achieve, build confidence in how they talk about their work, and develop a more concrete sense of where they're going.
If you're looking for professional development support and in-house training that's grounded in how the sector actually operates rather than adapted from somewhere else, that's something we can discuss.
Work with me
If you have a problem that doesn't fit a neat description, I am happy to have a conversation about whether I can help.

"Hannah was a joy to work with and all the staff and Trustees very much enjoyed her approach, positivity and creative structure. She smoothly took trustees out of their comfort zone which they really enjoyed. She brought insight, expertise and knowledge of the sector, current trends and ways of working demonstrating an excellent understanding of human nature."
